Holding Space in a Divided World

Since #47 took office, I’ve received countless messages asking how to feel, deal, and hold space in this polarized political landscape. We’ve been conditioned to pick a side—male/female, white/colored, Party #1/Party #2—each reinforcing an “us vs. them” mentality. With the power of our democracy, we collectively chose #47, and yet, the division feels more intense than ever.

So, what advice can I offer my friends? I approach this from a spiritual and energetic perspective.

The hardest truth to accept is this: everyone is entitled to their opinion. You don’t have to agree, but you do have to be okay with differences. The real struggle begins when we obsess over trying to change others’ minds. If more than half of your daily thoughts are consumed by what’s wrong with #47 (or what they will do wrong), your energy is being drained. Where your thoughts go, energy flows. Ask yourself: how much energy are you expelling on external circumstances?

Constant outrage and frustration lower your vibration and leak your energy. This is where Tesla’s insight—everything is energy, vibration, and frequency—becomes invaluable. When your energy field is expanded, you naturally hold a higher vibration, attracting experiences that match that state. Like attracts like. The frequency you embody determines the encounters and circumstances that come your way.

This is where free will comes into play. You have the ability to choose a higher vibration and shift where you place your attention. What is your role in the grand scheme of things? Don’t get distracted by the illusion of chaos. Media and social platforms thrive on sensationalism, turning simple facts into emotionally charged narratives that drain your energy. Remember when the news was just who, what, where, when, and why? Now, it’s a cycle of speculation designed to keep you engaged—and energetically depleted.

How to Stay Centered:

• Notice when your energy field begins to shrink.

• Be aware when more than 10% of your attention is fixated on external drama.

• Observe when strong emotions arise about something that isn’t present in your immediate reality.

A simple tool to bring yourself back: Pause. Breathe deeply before reacting. That pause brings you into the present moment, where you can respond instead of react.
