The Energy of This Blue Moon: Returning to the Moment

Being in the moment took quite a while for me to understand.

For years, I heard spiritual teachers talk about it. Zoe used to say it all the time: “Be in the moment.” And honestly, I never fully understood what that actually meant.

It wasn’t until I began meditating that I finally experienced it for myself.

Try something simple right now.

Close your eyes.

Take a slow breath in.

Notice the warmth of the air as it enters your nostrils.

Notice how far down into your body that breath travels.

Then exhale slowly and notice the air moving back out again.

Do that two or three times.

What happens?

For a brief moment, nothing else exists.

You are not thinking about yesterday.

You are not worrying about tomorrow.

You are simply following the experience of breath moving through your body.

That is being in the moment.

And I’m beginning to realize how important this truly is — especially when it comes to our nervous system and our health.

This week I was reading studies about GLP-1 medications and long-term weight management. What shocked me most was not the weight loss itself, but what happened afterward.

Even when people had nutritional guidance and exercise programs in place, many regained weight once they lowered or stopped the medication. And as the weight returned, many of the health improvements disappeared too — blood sugar issues, blood pressure improvements, inflammation markers.

That hit me deeply.

Because it made me ask:

What is really going on underneath all of this?

And once again, I came back to the nervous system.

I believe many of us have a “set point” — not just physically, but emotionally and neurologically — where the body keeps trying to return to what feels familiar, even when that familiar state is not healthy.

And then something very simple clicked for me.

Presence.

The last few days, I started eating “in the moment.”

Not dieting.

Not restricting.

Not changing what I eat.

Simply being fully present while eating.

Actually tasting the food.

Actually chewing slowly.

Actually noticing when my body feels satisfied.

Most of us eat while distracted — talking, scrolling, watching television, worrying, rushing. We can eat an entire bag of something and barely remember experiencing it.

But when you are fully present with your food, something changes.

You naturally eat less.

Your body responds differently.

Your nervous system responds differently.

And interestingly enough, after only three days, my belt already moved one notch smaller.

That means something shifted.

This Blue Moon energy feels like an invitation into exactly this kind of awareness.

Not forcing.

Not fighting ourselves.

Not trying to become someone else overnight.

Just becoming present enough to finally notice ourselves.

Maybe that is where real change begins.

So this week, I invite you to try it with me.

Be in the moment with your food.

Be in the moment when someone is speaking to you.

Be in the moment during your quiet time.

Be in the moment with your breath.

Be in the moment with yourself.

Because we are human beings…

not human doings.

With love,

CHaRLi
